There lived a hermit, Nadasarma by name, in Vriddachalam. Bhima was one of his disciples. Nadasarma taught Bhima everything except Vasikarma. One day, Bhima stole the text relating to Vasikarma. On learning this, Nadasarma cursed Bhima that he would become dumb and asked him to leave the ashram. Bhima realizing his mistake proceeded to Sri Kalhasthi and at some distance from the south gate of the temple installed a Siva Linga and performed intense penance. Sri Kalahastheeswara granted him mukti.
